As I got older I continued to take part in various plays and pantomimes produced by my dad. I started in parts such as, the Skeleton in Aladdin’s cave, a womble in Beanstalk land and finally the main part as Dick Whittington whilst my boyfriend at the time was the cook. I really enjoyed taking part in these plays although stand out moments were seeing the leading lady consume her flowers at an after party, playing an Egyptian Flautist with 4 arms (the 2nd pair were played by a man with huge hairy arms), it was so hard to play without laughing. Making a camels head in our front room – not good when trying on the head and seeing a spider coming through the mouth towards you! Taking part in Trial and Jury – seeing everyone collapse to the floor when the bench they were sitting on up-ended. My mum and dad continued to write, direct and take part in pantomimes long after they had both retired.
Later in life I returned to Pantomime in my new home town of Lydd and have since got to be a Fairy Godmother, Genie of the Ring and Evil Stepmother
