Other occasions I remember at Edgehill are: Midnight feasts; a cinema trip to see Grease; cross country running; camping on Dartmoor; I also remember becoming house music captain; stealing food trays from the dining hall to use as sledges when it snowed, and the school dance.
The school dance. We all got to go the a school dance where the boys from our brother school Sherbourne came to visit. However the one I remember best was the dance for the 6th form girls. As a 5th former my friends and I got to serve the food and drinks for the 6th formers. We would be downstairs in the dining room and they would be above in the main assembly hall. As we were getting the tables ready, the music upstairs changed to a Pogo dance. Well, the ceiling above began to vibrate, then little chunks of paint floated down, and finally a huge chunk of plaster crashed down over the tables below. For many weeks after, the grand piano covered a hole in the assembly floor.
My boarding house was Carisbrooke and our head house mistress was Miss Crawford, she could be terrifying, but she was actually a very kind lady if you were feeling home sick. The other house mistress was Miss Seaman, she was a lovely women who switched between having a pink or blue hair wash, but we did tend to play tricks on her, one of which was stealing the clanger from her wake up bell so she used a saucepan and wooden spoon instead.
